Science Communication
The Vienna University Children’s Office enables children to get to know science and the people behind it. Every summer, the Vienna Children’s University opens its doors to over 4,000 children between the ages of 7 and 12.
The Vienna University Children’s Office offers exciting guided tours through the University of Vienna for elementary school classes.
However, science communication also takes place outside the university. Within the framework of Children’s University on Tour, children meet science in public spaces, for example in the park. The aim is to address children who might otherwise have little access to the university and science.
At the Summer Camps, the enthusiasm for science and research is awakened with fun and games. The children are looked after throughout the day or week – perfect for children of working parents and for children who want even more research, experiments and surprises.
The Vienna University Children’s Office has assumed a pioneering role with these diverse Children’s University activities. On behalf of the European Commission, an international network (EUCU.NET – European Children’s Universities Network) was established to further facilitate the exchange of experience between science and society at the international level.
